Biographie

Sevan Gharibian (né à Erevan en 2000) est un compositeur arméno-libanais. Il développe sa créativité en composition à l’École supérieure de musique Reine-Sophie avec le professeur Fabián Panisello grâce à une bourse de la fondation Albéniz, ayant récemment obtenu un master de composition dramatique et pour ensemble instrumental. Il est diplômé d’une licence et d’un master de composition du Conservatoire d’État d’Erevan (mention Très bien ; classe de Vartan Adjemian), où il est entré à l’âge de 16 ans.Sevan est récipiendaire de plusieurs prix internationaux. Il a reçu des mains de Sa Majesté la reine Sophie le diplôme de l’étudiant le plus remarquable de la chaire de composition IF. Son catalogue comprend des œuvres vocales, orchestrales et de musique de chambre, dont certaines ont été publiées. Ses compositions ont reçu d’excellents commentaires des musicologues et ont été couvertes par les médias. Une de ces pièces est Lustre, un triptyque pour baryton et piano, qui a également remporté le premier prix du IXe Concours festival international Renaissance et est souvent interprété lors de concerts. Son quatuor à cordes Cedars a été enregistré dans le cadre du VIe Concours international de composition String Quartet Smackdown de Golden Hornet à Austin, Texas. Sevan est lauréat du Concours international de composition The Contemporary Piano (2020), organisé par An Art Artistry à Athènes, avec sa pièce Three Færies. Comme gagnant du Concours pour jeunes compositeurs 2021 de PluralEnsemble, sa pièce pour ensemble Five Moons a été incluse dans la Tournée nationale 2021 de l’ensemble pour être interprétée dans différents festivals de musique à travers l’Espagne. Sevan a récemment remporté le IVe Concours international de composition chorale de l’association internationale Armenian Little Singers (ALSCCC) avec sa pièce Nazan-Nabiko, qui a reçu à la fois le premier prix du jury et le prix du public.Forte de ses expériences multiculturelles et ses approches classiques et nouvelles, Sevan aiguise son écriture compositionnelle. Il croit en son rôle de promoteur de la musique contemporaine et travaille à prendre une part active dans un grand voyage artistique.Parallèlement, il étudie la gestion et l’innovation numérique à l’Université de Londres.

Finalist in Golden Hornet’s String Quartet Smackdown VI‘The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon.’ I have adhered to the cedar’s perception as a spirit assistant, a symbol of strength and eternity. ‘Dæva’ 🐲The work is inspired by Greek and Armenian mythologies; each movement depicts and is dedicated to a færie (mythological creature). It features evocative scenes and characteristic descriptions, enlivened by a variety of textures and techniques, both performative and compositional (including, for instance, homophony, polyphony, monody, polyrhythm, polymetry, acoustics, harmonics, and modality).

Énigme (Conundrum) pour piano solo (2016)

Conundrum is a piece for solo piano, composed in 2016. Chiefly mysterious in mood, it combines different modern Western scales (mostly centred around E and B) and pianistic as well as monophonic, biphonic, polyphonic textures from different periods. The piece starts off with an opening theme in the dominant, which proceeds to the tonic, an ostinato bass whereon is based the skeleton of the piece. The different dialogues between sinister and æthereal themes lead to the elucidation of the conundrum on the B major chord.
